Folklore to funny
“The true alchemists do not change lead into gold; they change the world into words.”
-William H. Gass
Welcome!
I decided to start this blog because I really love to write, I have loved stories ever since I was little and lately I have been experimenting with different styles of writing. I use everything from comedy to fairy tales and I am so exited that I have a place to put it!
First story! I wrote this very recently and I would definitely say its more on the folklore side of things lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZbuj3RJcjI&list=WL&index=15&t=10014s I also recommend listening to this instrumental while reading, it is so beautiful!

The stories the stars told
Once in the mossy dells of Ireland, where the fairies dance under the midsummer stars and the nymphs laughter fills the clear air, there lived a pixie boy. He danced with the fairies and drank from the cool brooks, he listened to the sounds of the nymphs laughter, and he fell in love with the stories from long ago. This pixie boy grew older and he soon fell in love with a beautiful fairy girl. They were to be wed on a midsummer night with the stars as their witness and the forest as their guid, but on the eve of their wedding the fairy girl fell deathly ill and she died. The pixie boy was overcome with grief and wept so that the streams of his tears ran into the cool brooks and made the water too salty to drink, his cries scared away the fairies so they no longer danced under the midsummer stars, and his stories of a love long lost so saddened the nymphs that their laughter no longer filled the air. The pixie boy sat alone in the mossy dells and he wept for his love. One midsummer night, when the stars were brightly shining and the air was clear and still the pixie boy heard soft whispers, whispers of the stories once told, when the fairies danced under the midsummer stars and the nymphs laughter filled the clear air; and as the boy listened he fell in love with the stories again. He heard the echoes of the nymphs laughter, he saw the shadows of the fairies’ dance and he tasted the water of the cool brooks. Then through the night there came the shining figure of the fairy girl, then she took his hand and led him up to the stars.

Hi! Today instead of posting a story I thought I would try something a little different… writing tips! I have put together some random (and helpful) writing related word definitions ,although now that I think about it all words are writing related lol, and some descriptive writing tips to share with you, I hope you find them helpful!
Definitions
Topoi: The general topic, the information you should include, and where to find that information. Topoi helps writers come up with arguments or share information. You can use different topos to do that, and more than one in your argument or writing.
Documentation: properly documenting the sources of information with footnotes and in-text citations to avoid plagiarism.
Outlines: Outlining helps you put information in the correct order; once you’ve ordered your facts, you can begin to write about them.
Description Tips
Scientific Description
Definition: A visual and structural description of an object or phenomenon
Procedure:
1. Describe each part of the object or phenomenon and tell what it is made from.
Remember:
1. Consider using figurative language to make the description more visual.
Description of a Place
Definition: A visual description of a physical place
Procedure:
- Ask, what specific purpose should this description fulfill?
- Choose a point of view
Remember:
1. Make use of space and distance words and phrases
Hi! I have been really busy lately so sadly I haven’t gotten a chance to post any new content. I’v started experimenting with fictional and character based narratives so I thought I would share one of my latest ones with you, enjoy!
The Manticore chase

Vex’s feet pounded on the needle strewn earth as she ran through the forest. The manticore’s blood curdling yowl filled her ears like the call of death as it slowly gained on her, she threw a spell out behind her but it exploded on the dirt and the beast dodged it easily,
“damn it,” she cursed at her failure, “one would think training with the high elves for two years would pay off,” but there was no time to worry over that now.
As she ran her mind wandered to how certain she had been before that she could take on the Manticore and how prideful she had been to think that a lone druid could defeat such a powerful foe.
She leaped over a bush and her cloak caught on a branch but she freed it with a quick tug. As she neared the river Vex noticed a sturdy oak leaning over it, if she timed it right maybe she could grab the branch and send the manticore into the water before it got a chance to catch her.
“Well it’s not like I have any other options,” she thought with a sigh.
As she got closer to the river Vex took a deep breath and poured every last ounce of her strength into a leap that sent her sailing over the rushing water, she grasped at the branch and pulled herself up into the tree. The Manticores cry nearly burst her eardrums and filled the forest with a noise that seems to shake the earth itself. She sat not daring to move until she was sure the Manticore had drowned. As she tried to catch her breath Vex realized what she had done ,she had defeated a manticore without any magic at all! A slow smile spread across her lips as it finally set in, she had nothing to prove to anyone.
